President Meric Gertler invites Class of 2021 to virtual fall convocation

University of Toronto President Meric Gertler is congratulating the Class of 2021 and inviting them to tune into the fall virtual convocation ceremony on Nov. 18.

“We are extremely proud of you,” he says in a video message. “You have completed your programs under exceptionally challenging conditions, and you've risen to the occasion with energy, creativity and concern for those around you.

“You are an inspiration to us all, and we look forward to paying tribute to you when we confer your degree.”

More than 5,000 students from 70 different countries will receive their degrees in absentia at the virtual ceremony, which will air on the university's convocation hub at noon ET on Nov. 18.

“We wish we could acknowledge your important achievement in person,” President Gertler says, “but we hope you'll join us online, along with your family and friends, to celebrate this wonderful milestone in your life.”
